How many of you know exactly the amount of hours you use on productive tasks? I believe that many of us will not know until we track our activities. You’ll be surprised to discover how much time we wast doing unproductive activities.

Sometimes, we get involved in activities that won’t help us achieve our goals. These events are time killers; sometimes, they go unnoticed. However, you can take some measures to gain control of your day.

Examine Your Daily Activities

Life is getting busier every single day, you almost have to track your day to seconds if you want to win. Every event needs your time. Time is one commodity that won’t come back once lost.

So what can you do to win with your time? Examine your daily activities! Start from when you wake up in the morning until when you go to bed at night.

It might be hard the first time you try, but will be helpful once you gain momentum. However you want, you can list the events on a piece of paper or download any time tracker app to capture the information you need.

List All Events That Affect Your Life?

You’ll be surprised to discover many events that affect your life daily. Positively or negatively, list all the events that take place in your life daily. It will help you to plan your day effectively.

Some events are positive and good for you and your loved ones. On the other hand, these events could take a big chunk of your time. Even though they are positive events, they might take a big chunk of your time.

Determine What You Need to Turn Off

List all your major events, don’t fall into a pit of listing all the small ones. What do I mean by those? I meant the small necessary events that take place in your life on a day to day bases.

Go over your list and sort them based on what you want to keep and what you want to eliminate. This list will help you to keep everything visible. It will also be your motivator when you feel like quitting.

Develop a Plan to Eliminate Time Killers

At this point, develop a plan to attack your time killers. It is not enough to say you are going to get rid of some activities in your life. What will your replacements be?

Find a replacement for any activity you are getting rid of. Something, like reading a good book instead of watching the non-discriminatory TV, would be an example. It will be hard to eliminate those activities if you don’t find replacements.

Learn Self-Control Habits

Watch yourself once you’ve decided to eliminate an event in your life. It is easy to quit and go back to your old self. Always ask yourself if what you are doing at a certain time adds value to your life.

When you catch yourself drifting; stop what you are doing and go back to your plan. You also want to share your plan with someone who will hold you accountable. Accountability will keep you on your toes to accomplish your goal.
