Once we have a goal crafted, we want to achieve it without applying needed discipline. What is this discipline? Are we naturally born with it or it is something that we can learn?

We must develop and habit of getting stuff done! A good number of people will not achieve what they’ve planned because they procrastinate. Schedule your tasks wisely and get them done; that is how you achieve your major goal.

Be Flexible with Your Schedule

Believe it or not, you will be distracted from your goals. Don’t allow that disruption to make you drift away. Be flexible, take the time to gain your focus; start over and get back on track.

Sometimes, we get distracted and abandon our goals for good. That shouldn’t happen; distractions are a part of our lives. When they happen, we must adjust our schedule accordingly and move on.

Respond to the Environment Appropriately

The environment we work in also has its demands. Sometimes, we have to respond to the environment as needed. We can’t ignore what surrounds us; else, we’ll forget other responsibilities.

You may want to respond to your family or a friend’s needs. You can’t neglect those needs to focus only on your goal. You should give other events their time as they demand from us.

Divide Your Daily Tasks into Categories

Sometimes, we fall into a trap of having every task listed as urgent. If we do that, what comes first then? Here are 3 categories you can use to list your tasks:

Must Do: These are types of urgent tasks you must do first.
Will Do: You will do them when you have enough time.
Can Do: Low priority tasks that may not affect your bigger goal if you don’t do them on time.

Go over your possible tasks and list them under these 3 categories before you start working on them. This way, you won’t waste time doing unnecessary stuff.

Free Your Time to Work on Your Goals

This is where people struggle the most. Even though everything is in place, many may still fail to accomplish. Why? Because they haven’t schedules time to work on their tasks.

The best way of completing your tasks is by scheduling the time to work on them. You don’t need an hour or two for small tasks. You may even schedule half an hour a day to work on and close a task.

Distribute and Control Your Energy

Where in your goal do you need more energy? Most people try to multitask when they have smaller goals or tasks. By doing that, they jeopardize the quality of their work.

Focus your energy on one task and finish it with good quality. I understand that some tasks can be done parallel to others. Be cautious about the quality of your work.
