Most of us dream about reaching our potential. But only a few are willing to change our mindset and do the work it takes to get there.
How many times have you had a brilliant idea but failed to act upon it? In fact, we all have great dreams that if acted upon, we’d be in a different level by now. We live our lives wishing our ideas would magically come to reality.
In any case, keep on dreaming; it is no bad to have dreams. The problem comes when you don’t act on those dreams at all. Consequently, they remain mere dreams that won’t take you anywhere.
All things considered, keep your dream alive. Act on them if you want to reach your potential. Here are major obstacles you need to overcome to reach your potential.
Your Thoughts Are Limiting You
Sometimes the choices we make hinder our progress. In fact, our brain was trained to keep us safe in our comfort zone. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you want to do something crazy?
Surprisingly, your brain will bring a lot of what-ifs to the picture. Most of the time these what-ifs are scary and prevent you from taking any actions towards your goals. The truth of the matter is that big goals should scare you.
Unfortunately, most of the times we limit our abilities. We create negative stories that prevent us from taking action on our goals. Don’t limit yourself; if your goals don’t scare you, you most likely won’t win big.
You Want to See Results Without Doing the Work
Sometimes, we want to see quick results when dealing with life goals. However, it takes time to achieve a big goal; especially when it is a life-changing goal. Things might not seem to be moving forward for you.
Often, we quit our goals and label ourselves failures. Don’t allow an obstacle stop you from working on your goal. Regrettably, many will stop working on their goals but expect different results.
If you fail once, revisit your goal, tweak it and move on. Don’t stop working on your goal just because you hit a roadblock. Keep working on your goal until you see a result.
You Are Comparing Yourself To Others
In some situations, you keep on comparing yourself to others. Sometimes images are deceiving sometimes. Somebody might seem successful to you but in reality he or she is not.
Furthermore, comparing yourself to others gives you a false image of yourself. You might seem like a failure, but down deep you are successful. So what do you need to do in this case?
Stop comparing yourself to others. I suggest you focus on your goals and work hard to accomplish them. You will have ups and downs no matter what you are working on; don’t give up on your dreams.
You Want Everything To Be Perfect
Perfectionism is a buzz killer. A significant number of people will not start working on their goals because they want every single detail to be perfect. Well, that is not going to happen.
If you are one of the perfectionists, you are most likely wasting your time. Perfectionism will always tell you that you will get it right tomorrow. But that tomorrow it is telling you will never come.
At any rate, be determined and start working on your goals once you have listed your tasks. Take it task by tasks and make changes as you go. Don’t waste time trying to perfect everything.
You are Juggling Too Many Things at The Same Time
Some people have many talents and try too many things at the same time. How many times have you heard that multi-tasking is a liar? If you multi-task, you won’t be an expert in what you want to do.
Actually, there is nothing wrong with having too many talents. The bad news is that you will not be able to juggle between all of them and gain big success. In other words, your energy will to be distributed among those talents at an average rate.
Therefore, focus on one talent and master it so you can be successful in that area. Take that talent one talent and make it better. Developing your talent will make it simpler to accomplish your goal.
